Gynecology in Chinese medicine

The Chinese gynecology filed is the most ancient, researched, developed and experienced in the world. There are a few scriptures showing that in the early Shang Dynasty (more than 4,000 years ago) various gynecological problems were treated. The Chinese gynecology treatment is extensive and meets a wide range of issues.

Menstrual problems, menopause, libido issues, erectile dysfunction, prostate problems, infertility (for both man and woman), pregnancy and childbirth and various other gynecological diseases (PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, etc.).

Infertility and fertility treatments:

In recent years, more and more couples incorporate Chinese medicine treatments as part of conventional fertility treatments.
In the last decade there has been an increase of approximately 20% of infertility issues where no pathological findings has been defined, ie – where it is not possible to identify the causes of the infertility, but still the couple have difficulty conceiving or is experiencing recurrent miscarriages. Experts believe that the reasons are due to a stressful and demanding lifestyle, poor Western nutrition, and the prolong use of birth control pills. Another factor is the age increase of the couples who are starting a family, it is known that as ones age is higher when trying to conceive, thus fertility level decreases.

Research has shown that pregnancies success rate doubles when Chinese Medicine treatments are integrated with conventional medicine. The reason for that is because of the positive effect of Chinese medicine treatment on the endometrium by improving blood flow to the uterine lining and creating an optimal environment for implantation of the embryo in the womb. Chinese medicine also treats emotional issues that may rise while the woman is going through fertility treatment and a direct link has been proven between improving mental health and treatment success. Another advantage of combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine with conventional treatment is that Chinese moderates the side effects of hormonal treatments.
In most cases the Chinese treatment for fertility problems is a combination of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, moxibustion and dietary recommendations.

For the women:

Chinese therapy improves the chances of success of IVF and IUI treatments. It helps with cases of recurrent miscarriage, preparation of the endometrium for implantation during infertility treatments, faster healing process after abortion, lowers FSH, balance the hormonal system, regulates ovulation, improves and heals endometriosis and PCOS which causes great difficulty in conceiving, treats Amenorrhea and mental health issues which arise during fertility treatments.

For the men:

Chinese medicine has a variety of solutions even where the difficulty to conceive is due to low sperm quality or erectile dysfunction. Treatment with Chinese herbs alongside acupuncture treatments has been shown to be effective in improving blood flow to the penis and most effective in improving semen quality. The treatment for male fertility combines acupuncture, Chinese herbs and dietary recommendations.

The treatment is suitable for conditions such as: low sperm quality resulting from the flow volume, problems with the concentration and quantity of the sperm, the quality of the movement and morphology. Treatment of other gynecological problems:

Chinese medicine has a variety of solutions to treat hormonal and gynecological issues for women of childbearing age and menopause. Many of the gynecologic problems are associated with hormonal imbalance.

Menopause represents the period in a woman’s life (typically between the ages of 40 and 50) when menstruation ceases. This period is characterized by hormonal imbalances and brings great inconveniencea variety of physical, emotional and mental symptoms.
