Thin uterus lining in Chinese medicine
The lining of the uterus constitutes the embryo’s growth substrate (such as the importance of fertile soil and nourishment for the absorption of seeds that wants to germinate). A uterine lining of less than 6 millimeters is considered a thin lining of the uterus and its chances of receiving embryos are low.
Women who have undergone scabies (repeated abrasion and especially severe metastases) are more likely to have intrauterine scars or adhesions that may impair the implantation process.
The thickness of the endometrium can be measured in vaginal ultrasound.
The condition of the lining of the uterus can be thickened and greatly improved through Chinese acupuncture, moxification and herbs.
Diagnosis and treatment in conventional medicine:
If there is a suspicion of a problem or a state of repeated failures, a hysteroscopy (a visual fiber that takes a picture of the uterine cavity) is performed in Western medicine.
This medical test is considered to be the most accurate assessment of the condition of the endometrium and if intraocular adhesions are detected, they can be removed.
If the uterine lining is thin although the hysteroscopy is normal, there are several options for dealing with the problem:
- The use of estrogen supportive products such as Progynova or Estrofem in the hope that they will affect the growth of the endometrium (please remember that in some women estrogen may suppress menstruation).
- Aspirin (100 mg) can be added. The idea behind this treatment is that aspirin dilates blood vessels and thus theoretically helps to thicken the lining of the uterus.
- It is possible to freeze embryos in the zygote phase (2 cells – on the first day of life) and return them after normal mucus is achieved in an artificial estrogen cycle.
- It is possible to perform a therapeutic procedure called Arugot (Womb-Scratching Technique), referring to the grooves made in the uterine lining to stimulate its growth (the treatment is done in hysteroscopy).
- Surrogacy: Using another woman’s uterus whos uterine lining is normal.
Acupuncture and its effect on thickening of the uterine lining and implantation process:
IVF treatments are often accompanied by great stress, which causes the release of stress hormones such as Adrenaline and Noradrenaline, which interfere with the chances of fetal implantation. Acupuncture significantly reduces stress, reduces the level of stress hormones, and improves the process of implantation of the fetus.
Stimulation of acupuncture points increases fluid and blood flow in the body, thus improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries by 100%, this is scientifically proven by a Doppler scans that checks blood flow to the uterus.
Naturally, normal blood flow to the uterus provides oxygen, nutrients and building blocks such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and glucose needed for normal implantation and development in the uterus.
Acupuncture thickens the lining of the uterus and as a result of improved circulation and thus significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.
IVF treatment with the highest chances of success is a combination of acupuncture, medicinal herbs, moxification (if necessary) and dietary changes that significantly increase the chances of achieving pregnancy.
