David Maoz manages a Chinese medicine clinic in Givatayim and is a qualified therapeutic touch professional. He is also a certified fitness trainer who does home visits and helps people get back into shape and optimal health.
At the age of seven I immigrated with my family to Israel from Chile. Eight years later the family moved to Sweden. Growing up was not easy because of the need to adapt to the culture, society, and a new language, but in retrospect, it’s clear that’s what made me be an enlightened person and more open-minded. At the age of seventeen I started to study martial arts and through them I was exposed to the Eastern philosophy and what lies behind these theories.
Since then I’ve continued to study therapy and Chinese massage, which constituted a natural continuation of the traditions of the Far East that had fascinated me. A few years later, in 2007, I decided to immigrate back to Israel. I enrolled into the “Ridman” school for the second time to study to be a qualified therapist in many various type of massage. I hold an Israeli certified medical masseur certificate. Later I continued my studies and qualified as a Sports coach and personal fitness trainer at “Broshim” campus at the Tel Aviv University. I studied and qualified as a computer technician and now I’m the webmaster of the Maoz Marpe clinic and work together with my Israeli wife, Sara, in the city of Givatayim.
What do you offer your clients and what is your advantage?
I offer a combination of therapeutic work together with fitness training. My tools are very diverse: Tuina Chinese massage, Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, ayurveda, lomi lomi massage, hot stones, cupping, moxibustion, stretching techniques, posture exercises, release and relaxation.
My motto at work is integrating the mind and body balance, proper nutrition and adequate exercise – every person can reach optimal health and a quality lifestyle. My target audience are people who are seeking massage treatment to relax and loosen stiff muscles, treatment for back and neck problems, relief with ongoing pain, athletes injured during exercise, pregnant women, and anyone who wants to lose weight and improve their overall health.
The advantage I offer, compared with other therapists, is my extensive knowledge which combines a number of related fields, many years experience, the possibility to work at the customers home, and the ability to speak in four languages: Spanish, Swedish, English, and Hebrew.
What’s your specialty?
I successfully treat people who suffer from stress and various orthopedic problems using massage, oils, and special warming creams, cupping and moxibustion. The general idea is to stretch, loosen and warm problematic areas in the body in order to help increase the blood and energy flow to the affected area which in turn will help the body heal itself. Any person of any age or physical condition can help improve ones health greatly if the person will commit to the process and will persistence.

- Postpartum fitness training for women, adults and anyone who needs to strengthen the pelvic floor.
- The exercise has a strong emphasis on cardio, aerobic and anaerobic activity.
- Professional nutritional advice that supports a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Physical activity is different than Sports activity – many people are scared to exercise because they confuse it with Sport. Sport is a professional activity and intensive which requires training and a lot of time compared with exercise which is an everyday relatively light activity where you activate the body as needed, such as climbing stairs, walking, cycling, light swimming… not necessarily something on a professional level or that requires expertise.
As a personal trainer I teach exercise to strengthen dormant muscles which are not in use on a everyday basis, improve the respiratory system with an emphasis on strengthening the bones, and increase cardiovascular endurance depending the person’s needs and ones age.
Exercise as a lifestyle improves health, mind and body, strengthens the heart and blood flow, muscular and skeletal systems, increases ones energy, reduces stress, helps in weight loss, and helps in maintaining that weight loss. Therefore it is highly recommended to all people who want to improve and live a quality life to do physical activity which is relevant to them.
You don’t necessarily need to go to the gym or sweat a lot. Physical activity is any conscious activity whether the goal is to improve your physical or/and mental fitness, such as memory, impulsiveness, reflexes and more…
What are the offered physical activities and the difference between them?
Strength training: Do strength training twice to three times a week for 20-30 minutes. Strength training strengthens muscles and improves the quality of life. Resistance strength training against a force which produces relatively strong resistance for a short time, such as rubber bands, weights, body weight, and more.
Aerobic exercise: Aerobic exercise improves the blood flow, heart and respiratory systems and helps to maintain a healthy weight. Aerobic exercise is performed against light resistance but for a long time period. In fact all training that increases the heart rate significantly is cardio workout – for example: walking, running, swimming, dancing, various ball games, cycling and more.
Flexibility: Flexibility exercises contribute to better posture and improve the range of motion in the joints. The training is performed by stretching of various muscles.
The no time excuse: The majority of the world population as well as Israel’s population does not engage in regular physical activity. One of the main reasons is the overload of tasks an individual has to perform in a short period of time.
Among other things, we want to make it to work on time, to raise children, to have fun, to create, and to watch TV. This is why people have the impression that to do physical activity we are required to sign up to a gym or an exclusive club – a subscription and committment which has a significant financial cost. Right away this impression raises a few questions: Do I have the time? Do I have the money?
The good news: Physical exercise does not necessarily have to cost a single penny. For example, a 30-minute walk most days of the week can lead to a tremendous improvement in ones health outcomes. Cycling, swimming, or rollerskating are just some physical exercise that everyone can do with hardly any effort which helps maintain normal body weight.
Healthy body and healthy mind – let’s look after our God-given “home” and live happily.
