Hormonal imbalance

Hormonal imbalance in Chinese medicine

The hormonal system is one of the body systems that regulates metabolism in the body and ensures the proper functioning of the entire body. This system includes endocrine glands that secrete their hormones to the bloodstream. These are the thyroid gland, pre-thyroid glands, hypothalamus, hypophysis, gonads, adrenal glands, pancreas, etc.

Causes of hormonal imbalance:

Sometimes the activity of one gland or another goes awry, causing serious illnesses. Even if this is not a significant lack or excess of glandular function but a small change, it may cause damage to the body’s function and, consequently to the disease.

There are cases where the level of different hormones in the body varies dramatically. This leads to symptoms that affect quality of life at various levels, from mild discomfort to dysfunction. This is what happens, for example, in infertility due to taking birth control pills for a period of more than three months. Because the pills disrupted the activity of the woman’s hormonal system, she may suffer from fertility problems.

Another example is a pregnant woman, who is overwhelmed by hormones of both herself and the fetus, which upset her hormonal balance. This causes nausea, headache, vomiting, mood swings, changes in libido, depression and more.

A woman after birth, whose hormones fall suddenly and dramatically, suffers from a hormonal imbalance. This condition called Postpartum but also known as “tears in labor” because the woman cries for no reason other than hormonal imbalance.

Menopause and menstruation:

Many women suffer from various symptoms before or during menstruation, including nervousness, various pains, increased appetite, dyspepsia, migraines, fluctuations in blood pressure, and more. The reason for all these symptoms is also hormonal imbalance. Many women think these symptoms are “natural” and do not even seek help. But it is certainly possible to help them and improve their quality of life and that of those around them.

Women and men around the age of fifty reach what is called “menopause”. This period is characterized by a decrease in the secretion of sex hormones. This is a period of hormonal imbalance, which is actually an imbalance of the entire body. Among the menopausal symptoms in women is an imbalance known as “hot flashes”: 40% of women over the age of 40 experience light hot flashes and 75% -80% of women during menopause experience hot flashes, of which 30% are severe.

Hormonal imbalances may cause:

Obesity, impotence, miscarriages, hot flashes, night sweats, accelerated heart palpitations, weakness and fatigue, blood pressure, skin problems, anxiety, unstable mood, depression, irritability and more.

Hormonal imbalance is also one of the causes of fertility problems, both in men and in women. According to statistics, infertility due to hormonal imbalances account for about 25% of all fertility problems. Another 25% of fertility problems are “for unknown reasons.” In my experience treating infertility, treatment to balance the hormonal system (even though all the medical tests show no issues) gives very good results.

What are hot flashes:

Hot flashes are the result of unstable levels of estrogen that “confuse” the body’s hormonal system – which also leads to excessive sweating and redness of the facial skin. During the hot flashes, the body temperature rises to 40 degrees and blood flow to the brain drops by 70%. A hot flashes disrupts brain activity and causes degenerative changes.

Acupuncture and hormonal imbalance that causes fertility problems:

Acupuncture is very effective in solving hormonal imbalances, especially the cause of infertility due to unspecified causes. Acupuncture can regulate ovulation and the hormonal system, increase blood flow to the reproductive system, increase the quality of the eggs, improve uterine thickening in the uterus and fetal absorption.

Acupuncture treatment must be adjusted to the woman and the treatment will include, beyond acupuncture, taking extracts and formulas of herbs and changing nutrition. Acupuncture will strive to restore the hormonal balance in the body that goes wrong and help to reduce tension and soothe.

In cases where the medical tests are all normal and the problem of infertility is not definable, acupuncture can be used to treat the inability to become pregnant. According to Chinese medicine, infertility appears in women as a result of energy weakness caused by stress, worry or strenuous work.

According to studies, acupuncture treatments before and after fertility treatments increase the chances of getting pregnant. Acupuncture relieves the side effects caused by taking hormones and ovarian stimulation. Also, because mental state has a huge part in the success of fertility treatments, acupuncture helps to reduce the anxiety threshold in the woman and return to emotional and hormonal balance.

Acupuncture will strive to replenish blood and body stores in the body, increase and freshen the essence of life, remove the blockage in the liver and bring about hormonal balance, release abdominal muscles and contractions in the womb, and pump blood and energy to the reproductive organs to allow pregnancy.
